Second Opinion & Estimate Review
A five-figure dealer estimate deserves a second set of eyes, especially from people who work on nothing but these cars.
Signs you need this
- A repair estimate that is much larger than expected
- A shop that cannot explain how they reached the diagnosis
- A repeat repair for a fault that never went away
- Being told the car needs a new engine or transmission
How we approach it
We see a lot of estimates. Some are entirely fair. Others bundle a genuine fault with four maintenance items and one part that was never tested. We re-diagnose the car independently, tell you which line items are real, which are preventive, and which we would not do at all — then give you our price for the work that matters. You are welcome to take our report back to the original shop; plenty of customers do exactly that.
What the job includes
- 01Independent diagnostic scan and physical inspection
- 02Line-by-line review of the existing estimate
- 03Clear separation of urgent, preventive and unnecessary work
- 04Our own written estimate for the work we would perform
- 05Photographs and measurements supporting every conclusion
- 06A straight conversation about whether the car is worth the repair
Common questions
Will you just tell me what I want to hear?
No. Sometimes the other shop was right and we say so. Our reputation for the last 35 years rests on being straight with people, and that has to work in both directions.
Do you charge for the review?
There is a diagnostic charge because we re-diagnose the car properly rather than reading someone else's paperwork. It is credited toward any repair you have us perform.
Let us take a look at it.
Call and describe what the car is doing. We will give you an honest assessment before any work begins.
