Oil & Filter Change
Mercedes engines are specific about oil. The approval number on the bottle matters more than the brand on the label.
Signs you need this
- Service due message or countdown on the instrument cluster
- Over 10,000 miles or twelve months since the last change
- Oil level low on the electronic dipstick
- Dark, thin oil or a car bought without service history
How we approach it
We use oil carrying the correct MB sheet approval for your engine — 229.5 for most petrol engines, 229.51 or 229.52 for diesels and particulate-filter cars — with a genuine filter element and new sealing rings. Every oil change includes a proper inspection on the lift: tires, brakes, leaks, boots, belts and fluid levels, with photographs of anything we find. You get the results whether or not you buy anything else.
What the job includes
- 01MB-approved full synthetic oil at the correct viscosity
- 02Genuine Mercedes-Benz oil filter element and seals
- 03Drain plug seal replacement
- 04Multi-point inspection with photographs of any findings
- 05Fluid top-up and tire pressure adjustment
- 06ASSYST service indicator reset
Common questions
Can I go 15,000 miles between oil changes like the car says?
The car calculates for ideal conditions. In Orange County traffic and heat we recommend 7,500 to 10,000 miles, and shorter on turbocharged and direct-injection engines. It is the cheapest engine insurance available.
Does using non-approved oil actually matter?
Yes. The approvals cover ash content and shear stability that affect particulate filters, timing chains and camshaft adjusters. Most of the sludged engines we open up were fed the wrong oil for years.
Let us take a look at it.
Call and describe what the car is doing. We will give you an honest assessment before any work begins.
