What goes wrong
The aftermarket parts industry for Mercedes-Benz is a minefield. Common questions
Why should I use OEM parts instead of aftermarket?
OEM parts are manufactured to Mercedes-Benz engineering specifications and tested for fit, durability, and performance in your specific vehicle. Aftermarket parts may look similar but can differ in material quality, dimensional tolerance, and performance characteristics. A $12 aftermarket oil filter versus a $15 OEM filter may seem trivial, but the OEM filter has the correct bypass valve pressure, filtration micron rating, and seal compatibility for your engine. Over the life of a vehicle, the cumulative effect of OEM-quality components shows in reliability and resale value.
What are OEM-equivalent parts?
OEM-equivalent parts are manufactured by the same tier-one suppliers that make the parts for Mercedes under OE contract, but sold under the supplier's own brand name. For example, Bosch makes the oxygen sensors that come in a Mercedes box — buying the identical Bosch sensor in a Bosch box is the same part at a lower price. We use OEM-equivalent parts from Bosch, Bilstein, Continental, Mann+Hummel, Hengst, Brembo, and Mahle because we know these are the actual OE manufacturers.
Can I buy parts from you for a DIY repair?
Yes, we sell select parts over the counter for DIY customers. Our most common parts-only sales include oil and filter kits, cabin air filters, brake pads and rotors, and common maintenance items. For more complex or vehicle-specific components, we recommend consulting with our team to ensure you are ordering the correct part number for your specific production date and option codes.
Can you source parts for my classic Mercedes?
Absolutely. We source classic Mercedes parts from the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine, Beckley Imports, Pelican Parts, AutohausAZ, and a network of specialty European vendors. Mercedes has outstanding parts support for heritage vehicles — we can source components for models going back to the 1960s. For truly rare items, we have contacts in the NOS (new old stock) community.
