4MATIC Transfer Case
4MATIC transfer cases are quietly reliable until the fluid is never changed. Then the chain stretches and the case is scrap.
Signs you need this

How we approach it
The transfer case fluid is small in volume and easy to forget, which is why so many 4MATIC cars arrive with a whine or a shudder in tight turns. We service the fluid, replace worn output shaft seals, repair the electronic actuators on models that have them, and rebuild or replace cases with stretched chains. On G-Class and older 4MATIC systems we also handle the vacuum and lock actuator work that goes with them.

Common questions
How often should transfer case fluid be changed?
Every 40,000 miles is sensible, and it is inexpensive. Neglecting it is the leading cause of transfer case failure on 4MATIC cars.
Can mismatched tires damage a 4MATIC system?
They can. Different rolling diameters front to rear force the centre differential to work constantly. Always replace tires in matched sets on a 4MATIC.
